Iain Macey studied under Donald Macleod, Andrew Pitkeathly, John Allan & Andrew Wright. A member of the Gordon Highlanders Drums & Pipes 1971-83, he received his Pipe Major’s certificate from the Army School of Piping in 1978. lain was P/M to the Sultan of Oman’s Air Force 1983-88 and P/M of RAF Halton Voluntary P&D 1988-98. As a competitor, his prizes include the Dunvegan Medal 1980 and Clasp 1994-95-96, Gillies Cup 1982/1993, Strachan Trophy 1982, Bratach Gorm 1993, SPSL Overall Champion 1993. Iain has been an invited competitor to the Glenfiddich Piping Championships at Blair Athol.
